A €1.4 million infrastructural project in an alleyway in Triq il-Għajn, Fontana, has been inaugurated, marking the completion of upgrades to drainage, paving, and underground utilities.

The project, which was officially opened by the Minister for Gozo, Clint Camilleri, and the Mayor of Fontana, Saviour Borg, involved the complete reconstruction of the alleyway's drainage system, new paving, and the relocation of underground services.

According to the Ministry for Gozo, the works also included the installation of new water mains and the upgrading of the sewage system, aimed at improving the quality of life for residents and addressing long-standing issues with flooding and infrastructure.

Minister Camilleri said that the investment forms part of a broader strategy to upgrade infrastructure in Gozo's localities, with a focus on enhancing public spaces and ensuring that utilities meet modern standards.

Mayor Borg highlighted the importance of the project for the local community, noting that the alleyway had been in need of significant repairs for years and that the completion of the works would benefit both residents and visitors.

The project was co-financed by the Ministry for Gozo and the Fontana Local Council, with the ministry providing the majority of the funding.
