APS Bank Buy-Back Nears 100,000 Shares with Steady Weekly Purchases

APS Bank's share buy-back programme approaches 100,000 shares after weekly purchases, with shares retained as treasury shares.
APS Bank's share buy-back programme is on the verge of hitting the 100,000-share mark after another week of steady purchases, according to Investi.
The bank acquired 22,400 ordinary shares during the week ended 4 September 2026, bringing the total repurchased since the programme began on 10 August to 97,855 shares.
The latest purchases were spread across three trading sessions on the Malta Stock Exchange. APS Bank bought 2,400 shares at €0.59 on 2 September, followed by 10,000 shares at €0.595 on 3 September and another 10,000 at €0.59 on 4 September.
No transactions were recorded on 31 August or 1 September. The purchases were executed through ReAPS Asset Management Ltd, with Curmi & Partners Ltd acting as broker.
The bank has adopted a gradual, disciplined approach since launching the programme in August. All transactions have been within a tight price range of €0.59 to €0.595 per share.
A key aspect of the programme is that the repurchased shares are being retained as treasury shares rather than cancelled. This means the buy-back does not reduce APS Bank's issued share capital.
Retaining shares as treasury shares gives the bank flexibility for future corporate purposes, such as employee share schemes or strategic transactions. Cancelling the shares would have permanently reduced the share count and increased proportional ownership for existing shareholders.
For investors, the regular disclosures offer insight into the pace and execution of the programme. Market participants will be monitoring how the purchases develop and their impact on trading activity and liquidity in APS Bank shares.
