Budget 2027 Date Confirmed: Businesses Brace for Fourth Labour Term's First Fiscal Blueprint

PM Robert Abela sets 26th October as Budget 2027 date, kicking off pre-budget consultations with business stakeholders for Labour's fourth term.
Prime Minister Robert Abela has set Monday, 26th October as the date for Budget 2027, giving businesses a clear timeline to prepare for the first fiscal blueprint of Labour's fourth term.
According to MaltaDaily, the announcement was made during a Labour Party political activity. This budget will be the first of Labour's fourth consecutive term, following its victory in the 30th May 2026 general election. Labour secured 158,444 first-preference votes, or 51.77%, against the Nationalist Party's 44.68%.
Preparation is already underway. The Government has held consultation meetings with key business representatives, including the Malta Chamber of SMEs, the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association, and the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses. Discussions covered business, tourism, healthcare and other priorities.
The Opposition has also been engaging with chambers, businesses, and stakeholders as part of its own input into the economic and social priorities for the coming year.
For Malta's business community, Budget 2027 will be closely watched for signals on tax, investment incentives, and sector-specific support. The consultation meetings suggest the government is actively gathering input from sectors that drive employment and growth. The date confirms that the formal fiscal debate will begin in the autumn.
Companies should monitor the pre-budget discussions for early indications of policy direction. The budget will set the tone for business conditions under the new legislature.
