Burmarrad Group Assets plc has more than doubled profit in the six months to 31 July 2026, helped by the first earnings contribution from its associate BBT plc.

Profit before tax reached €583,240, up from €244,152 in the same period last year. Net profit climbed to €403,918 from €105,759, according to interim results approved by the board on 29 September.

Investment income remains the group's main revenue engine, rising to €1.03 million from €888,212. Operating profit improved to €917,233 from €738,997, although finance costs also increased to €523,124 from €494,845.

The standout swing came from BBT. Burmarrad recognised a €224,456 share of profit from its 17.21% associate stake, whereas the investment contributed nothing in the comparative period.

The balance sheet remains stable. Total assets stood at €45.59 million at the end of July, and total equity rose to €24.52 million from €24.12 million at the end of January. Cash strengthened to roughly €1.40 million from €871,766.

Directors have not proposed an interim dividend.

For a group that relies on vehicle-related and property activities alongside its BBT holding, the associate's turnaround is more than a one-off. The recurring income stream from BBT could give Burmarrad more headroom as finance costs keep creeping upward. Investors holding the group's debt will watch whether this earnings momentum translates into stronger cover for interest charges.
