Two new Malta Treasury bill issues with a combined value of just over €50 million began trading on the Malta Stock Exchange on 11 September 2026.
The larger issue is worth €44.229 million, carries a 91-day term, and matures on 10 December 2026. It has an average weighted price of €99.4430 per €100 nominal, with ISIN MT3100018683 and trading symbol B2650.
A second issue valued at €5.828 million has a 182-day term and matures on 11 March 2027. Its average weighted price is €98.9678 per €100 nominal, under ISIN MT3200017429 and symbol C2710.
Both issues were settled by the Treasury on 10 September before being admitted to trading the next day, according to Malta Stock Exchange Notice No. 2527.
Treasury bills are short-term government securities issued at a discount and redeemed at full nominal value at maturity. Their admission to the MSE means investors can now trade the securities on the secondary market before they mature.
This listing adds to the range of low-risk, short-duration instruments available on the local bourse. For investors, the secondary market provides liquidity and a price benchmark for short-term government paper.
The government's continued use of T-bills reflects its short-term cash management needs. The €50.1 million combined issuance is part of a regular programme to finance the government's working capital requirements.
